Cronología del Proyecto

1992
El proyecto surge hace más de 15 años en Huesca por la necesidad de comunicación del escultor Eduardo Cajal. La situación geográfica y la falta de los actuales medios comunicación hacían sentir aislamiento.

En 1992 de Eduardo Cajal y Mercedes Lienas se encuentran con los restos de un DC9 accidentado sin víctimas en una chatarrería. En ese momento Eduardo concibió el fuselaje reciclado como vehículo para el intercambio cultural y artístico que necesitaban. Redactó así el Proyecto Trashumante como eje vital en el renacer del objeto.

2003
El proyecto tuvo que esperar hasta el 2003. El taller de diseño industrial TDI dirigido por Mercedes Lienas y Eduardo Cajal era habitual colaborador de la dirección de ARCO. Ese año comenzaron a trabajar en la feria como directores de arquitectura Pablo Álvarez de Lara y Héctor Crehuet. Hubo varias colaboraciones profesionales encargadas por la dirección de ARCO. En el desarrollo de esos encargos Héctor Crehuet y Pablo Álvarez conocieron el Proyecto Trashumante.

De esta manera se generó el grupo de acción cultural  TRASHUMANTE que actualmente dirige y gestiona el proyecto Avión… para la acción y la comunicación contemporáneas

Project Chronology

1992
The Project was born more than 15 years ago in Huesca, as the necessity of the sculptor Eduardo Cajal to communicate. The geographical situation of this town and the lack of communication made him feel isolation. In 1992, Eduardo Cajal and Mercedes Lienas discovered the wreckage of a DC-9 airplane in a dump near by the motorway. The airplane suffered an accident while landing in which no victims occurred, and then, he conceived to recycle the fuselage of the airplane into a vehicle for cultural and artistic exchange.
2003
The Project had to wait until 2003 to see the light. The Industrial Design studio TDI, run by Mercedes Lienas and Eduardo Cajal was at that time a usual collaborator of ARCO, the international art fair of Madrid. That same year started Pablo Álvarez de Lara and Hector Crehuet as the architecture director’s of ARCO. Both teams worked together developing several objects and finally got involved in the airplane project.
Now
This is how the “non-governamental” cultural action group, called “TRASHUMANTE” appeared. This is actually the group that is in charge of the work of AVION…, as piece for installations and space for action and communication.
